All of us are called by God by our baptism as “Priests, Prophets and Builders of the Reign of God”.  

St. Victoria offers many ways to serve.  You are invited to investigate the different ministries and see which one is appropriate for you.

Worship and Liturgy

Each Sunday we gather to celebrate the presence of Christ in Word, Sacrament and Fellowship.

We seek to give our God praise and thanksgiving, as we beautify our sanctuary (art and environment), proclaim the word (lector), feed hungry and thirsty souls (Eucharistic ministers) and sing from our souls (music).

 

Justice and Peace

Whenever Jesus comes to our table on Sundays he brings with him the poor, destitute and broken hearted.  To be in solidarity with Jesus means to be in solidarity with those in need.  Justice and Peace includes DAWN, our local food pantry, Ministry with the Sick, Fannie’s House, a shelter for those abused, Habitat for Humanity, Appalachian Out Reach, Poverty Auction and Haiti Outreach.  Although many people are involved with all of these programs, Mary Dzaibas will be the contact person.

 

Liaison to Our Lady of Peace

As our priest is shared with Our Lady of Peace in Appomattox, it is important to maintain a warm relationship and good communication.

Youth Ministry and Christian Formation

Our young people are not only the “Future Church”, they are the church of today!  The word “Tradition” comes from the Latin root “Tradare” , which means to hand on the faith.  Christian Formation classes meet September – May at 10 a.m. on Sunday.  Youth Ministry involves service projects in the community as well as socials and fun gatherings for teens.

 

Ecumenism

Jesus prayed that all may be one.  All Christians celebrate one Lord, one faith, one Baptism and one God who is Father and Mother of us all.   The Second Vatican Council challenged us to build bridges.

Parish Pastoral Council

All are welcome to come and serve as an advisor to our pastor, Fr. Jim Gallagher.  Some are elected and some serve as chairpersons of  various ministries, but all are welcome.  The council meets every other month on the second Monday.

 

Parish Social and Fellowship

Jesus enjoyed celebrating with his friends in some informal settings.  It is important to get to know one another in the Lord.  It is a good thing when church is
